Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach 4 Family

Surin Beach Phuket Guide 2026: Best Things to Do Nearby

Surin Beach is one of the prettiest and calmest beaches on Phuket west coast. Set between Kamala to the south and Bang Tao to the north, it is known for turquoise water in high season, soft pale sand and shady trees. Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach is about 100 metres from the sea, so our team knows the area well. Here is what we recommend.

Surin Beach at a glance

Good to know: Surin Beach in 2026

Surin is a natural, uncrowded beach. Beach vendors and beach clubs were removed from the sand, so there are no sunbed rentals or bars on the beach itself. That keeps the beach clean and peaceful. Bring water, snacks and a beach mat, or pop back to the resort for lunch. A few restaurants are open on the street just behind the beach, and Tukta, built on the rocks, serves food and drinks with a view.

1. Swim and relax at Surin Beach

From November to April the sea is often calm and clear, ideal for swimming and paddling with children. Casuarina and coconut trees at the back of the beach give natural shade for the hottest part of the day.

Safety tip: in the low season the sea can be rough. Always check the flags and do not swim when the red flag is up.

2. Watch the sunset

Surin faces west, so on clear evenings the sun sets right over the Andaman Sea. It is one of the most relaxing ways to end the day, and the beach is rarely crowded.

3. Spend a day at Bang Tao Beach

Just north of Surin, Bang Tao is one of the longest beaches in Phuket, with beach clubs, restaurants and plenty of space. It is also where our surf lessons take place in the surf season.

4. Explore Kamala Beach

A short drive south, Kamala has a long beach, seafood restaurants along the sand and a relaxed village feel. On Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings, families can visit Carnival Magic, a colourful night-time theme park in Kamala.

5. Shop and eat around Cherngtalay

The Cherngtalay area between Surin and Bang Tao has many cafes, international restaurants and shopping centres, making it easy to find something for everyone in the family.

6. Book a day trip with the Siam Adventure Club

Our tour desk arranges family-friendly trips across Phuket:

7. Learn to surf or train Muay Thai

Surin is a great base for an active holiday. Our surf package includes group lessons at Bang Tao Beach with transport from the hotel, and our Muay Thai package includes daily group training with a Thai coach. Family versions are available.
